Yes, you can bring your own items to us for engraving. You don't have to buy from us, although we do have lots of products and gift ideas for sale. At Sheffield Engraving, we regularly mark and personalise items that our customers send to us or drop off.
Whether you have a family heirloom, a specific industrial tool, or a unique gift you've bought for someone, we will engrave it for you.
Materials We Engrave
Our machines handle a wide variety of materials. We regularly work with:

If you aren't sure what your item is made of, bring it in. We test the surface and tell you exactly how the engraving will look. This ensures you get a sharp, permanent mark.
How the Process Works
Getting your own item engraved is straightforward.

Get in touch. Send an email with a photo of your item and the text or logo you want engraved. Include the rough dimensions.

Get a price. We look at the material and the complexity of the design. Then, we give you a fixed quote.

Get your item to us. You can drop your item off at our Sheffield workshop, or you can send it to us via a tracked postal service.

Collection or return. Once the engraving is complete, you collect it from us or we post it back to you securely.
Things to Keep in Mind
We need a flat or curved surface for the laser to focus correctly. Highly irregular or completely cylindrical shapes may make things a bit more complicated. We're able to engrave most items but it helps to see the item first to confirm it fits the machine.
And we do not engrave materials that release toxic fumes when cut by a laser, such as PVC. We check all materials before we start to guarantee a safe and high-quality finish.
